rescue puppy parrita costa rica

Parrita the pup

Big to the Rescue is a mission of the heart.

During a paragliding trip to Costa Rica back in 2009, Jayson and Natalie both landed in a field near the town of Parrita on New Year’s Day and were greeted by a starving stray puppy. This little dog would return to Canada with them and go on to became the first in a line of rescue dogs that continues to this very day! Today, equipped with a trusty single engine airplane (C-GIOT), Jayson and Natalie volunteer their time and assist various local rescue organizations in the Pacific Northwest to deliver supplies and quickly transport seals, dogs, birds, and animals of all kinds from remote areas to appropriate rehabilitation centers and/or new forever homes.

Jayson Biggins started Air Cadets when he was 15 yrs old and experienced flights in both gliders and powered aircraft before eventually finding his way back to aviation in the form of paragliding. After becoming an instructor and tandem pilot and flying and teaching for over 2o years, he came full circle back to powered aircraft - combining his love for animals with aviation.

Today, he is Big to the Rescue’s Chief Pilot!

However, he couldn’t have gotten here without Natalie

We will be updating the website soon with more information plus photos, videos, and stories of past missions - plus we’ll have merch available!!

Stay tuned!

And thank you to those who have kindly contributed to our volunteer efforts.

This little guy got the help he desperately needed
